Qila is a 1998 Indian Hindi-language mystery drama thriller directed by Umesh Mehra and starring Dilip Kumar (in a dual role), Rekha, Mukul Dev, Mamta Kulkarni, Smita Jaykar and Gulshan Grover. After a film career that began in 1944 and spanned over five decades, this marked the final film appearance of veteran actor Dilip Kumar before his death on 7 July 2021. The film is a mystery thriller in which Kumar plays dual roles as an evil landowner who is murdered and as his twin brother who is a court judge tasked with investigating who killed him.


The plot of the movie revolves around the murder of Jagannath Singh, a cruel and evil landowner who has many enemies. His twin brother Amarnath Singh, a judge, decides to find out the truth behind his death. He discovers that the prime suspects are Jagannath's son Amar, Jagannath's abused wife Suman and a woman named Yamini who claims she was raped by Jagannath. As he digs deeper, he uncovers more secrets and lies that reveal the dark side of his brother and his family.

The movie is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that keeps the audience engaged till the end. The performances of the actors are commendable, especially Dilip Kumar who portrays two contrasting characters with ease and finesse. Rekha also delivers a powerful performance as Yamini, a woman who seeks revenge for her brother's death. The music by Anand Raj Anand is catchy and melodious, with songs like "Layi Hai Mehndi Wali Raat" and "Ankhiya Ye Ankhiya". The cinematography by S. Pappu is crisp and clear, capturing the scenic locations and the action sequences well.
